MEET OUR TEAM OF DIRECTORS

Meet Kim

The Founder & Creator of VANTA

KIM WILLIS

I’m Kim. I didn’t create VANTA because I wanted to add another breathwork method to an already very noisy wellness industry. I created it because I knew how powerful breathwork could be, but I also knew there was a massive gap between the way it was often taught and the way I believed people deserved to experience it.

My own relationship with breathwork came through real life, not from a place of having everything figured out. I’ve lived through some incredibly difficult periods of my life, experienced a breakdown, rebuilt myself more than once, and I also live with epilepsy. I know what it feels like when your own mind and body don’t always feel like the safest place to be. Breathwork became one of the tools that genuinely helped me.

But the deeper I went into this work, the more interested I became in why it worked. What was actually happening in the body? Why could changing the way we breathe change how we feel, think and respond? Why could one experience feel incredibly powerful for one person but overwhelming for another? And, most importantly, how could we facilitate breathwork in a way that was powerful without believing that powerful had to mean pushing somebody to their absolute limit?

Those questions became the foundations of VANTA.

I wanted to create something grounded. Something people could understand. Something that respected both the power of the breath and the person lying in front of you. No performance. No pressure to have a breakthrough. No belief that somebody needs to fall apart in order for something meaningful to happen.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer another human being is a space where they don’t have to perform, explain themselves, fix themselves or become anything else. They can just be.

Over the years I’ve worked with hundreds of people and trained hundreds of facilitators, and that experience has shaped VANTA just as much as any textbook or training ever could. I’ve seen what happens when people feel genuinely safe enough to experience themselves, and I’ve also seen why good facilitation requires far more than learning a breathing pattern and putting on a playlist. That’s why VANTA is about more than breathwork.

It’s about understanding people. It’s about presence, restraint, emotional safety and knowing when not to intervene. It’s understanding that your job as a facilitator isn’t to create somebody’s experience for them, but to have the skill and confidence to hold the space while they have their own.

I’ve never wanted VANTA to feel exclusive, overly spiritual or like you need to speak the language of the wellness world to belong here. I want ordinary people to be able to experience breathwork and think, why the hell have I never been taught this before?

And I want the people I train to leave knowing they can facilitate it with confidence, integrity and a genuine understanding of the responsibility that comes with holding space for another human being.

Ultimately, my vision has always been pretty simple.

I want breathwork to become as normal as going to the gym.

Something we understand. Something we have access to. Something we can use throughout our lives.

VANTA is my contribution to making that happen.

MEET LUCY

I never set out to become a breathwork facilitator. In fact, when I first tried breathwork, I didn’t like it at all. I walked out of that first session confused, uncomfortable, and absolutely certain it wasn’t for me.

Then I experienced the VANTA method for the first time, and everything changed. Something clicked. Something landed. I felt held, guided, and safe in a way I hadn’t before. I was hooked, not because breathwork was easy, but because it finally made sense. It felt structured, supportive, and human.

My motivation has always been simple: to help myself and my family. After a series of life‑changing events in quick succession, I found myself stripped back, fragile, and searching for something that could genuinely support me. Breathwork became that anchor. It helped me rebuild myself from the inside out, and in that process I realised something huge. This wasn’t just a tool for me. It was my purpose.

I’ve spent nearly 30 years in the hairdressing industry, always around people, always connecting. I’ve listened to thousands of stories, held space for countless emotions, and learned how deeply people need somewhere safe to land. That experience shaped me long before breathwork ever entered my life.

Becoming a VANTA facilitator felt like the most natural next step. I’m proud to be a Director now of Vanta (pinch me!).

This is a community built on being human first. We’re normal, everyday people with a passion for helping others. No performance. No fluff. No pedestal. Just lived experience, honesty, and a commitment to creating a space that feels safe, non‑judgemental, and accessible to everyone.

For me, that’s the heart of it. Breathwork doesn’t need to be complicated or mystical. It needs to be clear, grounded, and supportive. It needs to meet people exactly where they are.

I’m here because breathwork changed my life. I’m here because I know what it feels like to be lost and to find your way back. I’m here because helping others reconnect with themselves feels like the most meaningful work I could ever do.

And I’m proud, truly proud, to do it with VANTA!

MEET JO

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for helping people. I genuinely want to know if you’re OK. I probably give too many hugs and will always try to find a way to help if I can.

But my journey into this work hasn’t exactly been a straight line.

I’ve experienced depression, struggled with confidence and self-belief, and had my fair share of life’s ups and downs. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, overwhelmed or like you’ve somehow lost yourself along the way. And I think that’s a big part of why I care so much about the work I do now.

I’m a holistic therapist and Breathwork practitioner, and over the last few years I’ve immersed myself in learning about the body, mind, breath and nervous system. I’ve grown so much personally along the way too and there have been plenty of moments where I’ve surprised myself.

Then came VANTA.

What started as a passion for Breathwork has grown into something much bigger, and I feel incredibly lucky to be building it alongside people who share the same values and vision.

Because VANTA isn’t just about learning how to facilitate Breathwork. It’s about community, connection and support.

We’re real people. We’ve all got our own stories, our own experiences and our own stuff going on. We don’t pretend to have all the answers, and we certainly don’t believe you need to be perfect to do this work.

We want VANTA to be a place where people feel safe to learn, ask questions, make mistakes, grow, connect and become the facilitator they’re meant to be.

I’m so passionate about making VANTA the very best Breathwork academy it can be - not just because of the training, but because of the people and the community we’re creating around it.

And if you’d told me a few years ago, when I was battling my own self-doubt, that one day I’d be helping build a Breathwork academy, with the best team and community of faciltiators, I'm not sure I'd have believed you! But here I am 💕

MEET NICOLA

I’m Nicola - a psychology nerd, deep thinker, and someone endlessly fascinated by why we are the way we are.

My path into working with the breath began personally. From childhood, I was navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional instability. It wasn’t until my 40s that I came to understand myself as autistic and ADHD, which helped me make sense of so much of my life and healing journey.

In trying to understand and support myself, I trained in mindfulness, psychology, and brain-based approaches to wellness - tools that genuinely changed my life.

Then, five years ago, a nervous system breakdown changed everything. The approaches that had carried me so far were no longer enough, and I found my way to breathwork, the nervous system, and body-based healing.

After a single breathwork journey left me feeling like a different person, I knew I had to train in this work.

What I bring to VANTA is that combined lens: psychology, trauma, neurodivergence, brain-based wellness, breathwork, nervous system education, and lived experience.

I love taking complex theory and making it human, accessible, and practical - so students don’t just learn about trauma and the nervous system, but genuinely understand how to see that theory in the person in front of them.

Being part of VANTA matters to me because it reflects what I wish had existed when I was training: depth, integrity, support, and respect for the power of this work.

This work changed my life. Now my purpose is to teach it with depth, care, and respect.
